New Estimator Outperforms in Entropy Calculation for Lognormal Distribution
The article compares two ways to estimate the entropy of the lognormal distribution. One method, called the minimum variance unbiased estimator, consistently performs better than the other method, known as the maximum likelihood estimator. The minimum variance unbiased estimator shows higher accuracy, especially when the sample size and variance are small. This means it is more reliable for estimating the entropy of the lognormal distribution.
