Need for Cognition determines accuracy in lie detection using verbal cues
The study looked at how people's thinking style affects their ability to detect lies. People who enjoy thinking a lot are better at using both verbal and nonverbal cues to spot lies, while those who prefer not to think much rely more on nonverbal cues. When given both types of cues, those who like to think more were better at telling truth from lies compared to those who don't like to think as much.
