New method reveals hidden groundwater potential in Kaduna, Nigeria.
A study used a method called Direct Current Electrical Resistivity to investigate underground water in Kaduna Polytechnic Senior Staff Quarters. They found different layers underground, with the main water source being a weathered/fractured Basement. The water in this aquifer has a range of resistivity values and can be up to 52.25 meters thick. The researchers calculated the Transmissivity of the aquifer, which helped them identify areas with high and low groundwater potential. The Transmissivity values were compared to those from pumping tests, showing a strong correlation.
