Sperm DNA fragility may hinder fertility in healthy men
The study looked at sperm DNA fragmentation in infertile men visiting a clinic to see how it varies over time. They studied 100 patients by analyzing their semen samples following certain guidelines. They found that sperm DNA fragmentation varied less between two samples compared to other semen parameters. Nearly half of the men had a 10% or more difference in their results. Surprisingly, issues with sperm production or varicocele did not increase the variability. Men with normal sperm production showed more differences in DNA fragmentation over time than those with sperm production problems. In simple terms, sperm DNA fragmentation seems to change less than other semen factors. Men with regular sperm production may experience more variation in DNA fragmentation than those with issues in sperm production.
