The Safe Haven law in Texas has helped over 1,000 newborns across the country. However, many states haven't accurately tracked how many infants are being safely given up. More research is needed to understand how effective these laws are and to reach at-risk parents before they abandon their babies. States should invest more in public awareness campaigns to educate people about Safe Haven laws.
