The researchers studied soil formation and iron nodules in a karst area in Brazil. They looked at five soil profiles to see how the parent material and iron nodules affect soil properties. Different types of soils were found, with changes in characteristics at different depths. Iron nodules of various sizes were concentrated at different depths in the soil. The most evolved soil profile showed smaller nodules at the surface, indicating weathering over time.
