New FGD Process Eliminates Power Consumption, Boosts Desulfurization Performance.
A new process for cleaning up harmful gases from power plants has been developed. Instead of grinding up limestone, this process uses granular limestone directly, which saves energy. Tests showed that this new process works just as well or even better than the old one. The process was tested at a power plant in Japan and it was found that the quality of the cleaned gas was higher than before. Additionally, the new process is not affected as much by certain chemicals in the cleaning solution.
