Forest cover affects streamflow in sub-Mediterranean mountain watersheds. A model called GRHUM was used to study this impact by simulating runoff and soil water content. The model showed that cutting down trees in a watershed increased high flow rates significantly. The study also found that deforestation may lead to a 10% increase in runoff.
