Breakthrough Biofuel Discovery: Corn Stover Transformed into Renewable Energy
FeSO4 was tested to improve the breakdown of corn stover before turning it into biofuel. FeSO4 treatment at 180°C for 20 minutes was found to be the best condition, making the corn stover 36.4% more easily converted into biofuel. By using FeSO4, the researchers were able to break down the natural materials holding the corn stover together, making it easier for enzymes to do their job. FeSO4 treatment was successful in breaking specific linkages between the components in corn stover, stepping up the efficiency of the biofuel production process. In conclusion, FeSO4 pretreatment can help make the process of turning corn stover into biofuel faster and more efficient.
