BIC outperforms AIC in selecting fish stock–recruitment relationships, improving fisheries management.
The study compared two methods, AIC and BIC, for selecting the best fish stock–recruitment relationships. They tested six statistical models on simulated data and eight real fisheries data sets. Both AIC and BIC were effective in choosing the most suitable relationship, but BIC performed better for nested models. This research helps in accurately predicting fish stock levels based on environmental factors and measurement errors.
