A new method was developed to quickly and accurately measure sorbitol in solid and liquid forms using gas-liquid chromatography. By using n-butylboronic acid, sorbitol can be converted into a specific compound for easy detection. The process is simple and fast, with clear separation of sorbitol from other similar compounds like mannitol and galactitol. This method also provides a way to create a reliable sorbitol reference standard.
