Warning about hypothetical bias lowers average willingness-to-pay in surveys.
The study looked at how warning people about a bias in surveys affects how much they say they'd pay for something. They did this by asking people about paying for lakes in the mountains. The warning didn't change how much people said they'd pay, but it did make them say they'd pay less on average.
