The article discusses different methods used to weigh noise data to understand how people react to it. Despite many attempts to improve these methods, none have been very successful. Some calculations, like the Stevens and Zwicker loudness calculations, even give different results. However, sound levels can predict octave-band noise levels accurately, making them a useful alternative to complicated weighting methods. This suggests that using sound levels directly may be more practical and accurate for dealing with noise-related issues.
