Studying math can improve reasoning skills, as believed since Plato's time. A study looked at 16- to 18-year-old students in Cyprus who must study math until age 18. Students doing intense math improved reasoning skills, while those doing less math did not. This shows that studying a certain level of math may be needed for reasoning skills to get better.
