Pollen release patterns impact air quality in West Bengal, India.
The study looked at how different plants in West Bengal release pollen throughout the day. Researchers counted when the plants released pollen and how much pollen was in the air. They found that plants release pollen for 2 to 12 hours, with the most pollen released between 4 to 10 hours. When the weather changes suddenly, the amount of pollen released by plants also changes. Plants release more pollen in a short time and less pollen over a longer period.
