Livestock play a crucial role on small farms in the Ethiopian highlands, providing income and resources for crop production. A study conducted in the Baso and Worena district found that livestock are essential for farming success, with cattle providing power for cultivation and manure for fertilizer. The integration of livestock and crops is key to the farming system's productivity, with animal power significantly impacting grain production levels. This research highlights the importance of understanding and supporting the interactions between livestock and crops on smallholder farms in sub-Saharan Africa.
