SPT vs CPT: New Study Reveals Surprising Impact on Liquefaction Risk.
The study compared liquefaction potential in southern Iran using two soil testing methods: Standard Penetration Test (SPT) and Cone Penetration Test (CPT). Results showed that SPT-based evaluations were more conservative than CPT-based ones. Despite some correlations, the results varied widely, indicating the need for caution when assessing liquefaction potential in the region.
