Curved moraines in Sweden reveal secrets of ancient ice movements.
The study looked at different types of moraine in northern Sweden to see where the rocks in them came from. They found that curved moraines always have a lot of local rocks, especially near the top. Straight ridges have a mix of rocks. Drumlins can have no local rocks for many kilometers. The amount of local rocks in moraines depends on how the ice moved and changed during the ice age.
