New method accurately assesses nitrous oxide exposure in work environments.
The researchers found that exposure to nitrous oxides in a work environment can be accurately described using a lognormal distribution. They measured nitrous oxides during welding in a car manufacturing plant and determined the average concentration to be 4.098 mg/m3 with a range of 3.66-4.58 mg/m3. This method can be used to evaluate exposure limits in other work environments with only a few measurements.
