Conservation farming boosts soil structure and water retention for coffee crops
The study looked at how different soil types under coffee crops are affected by conservation practices. They found that the soil structure and water retention changed, with both types of soil showing a bimodal distribution of pores. The oxidic-gibbsitic Latosol had stronger bimodal pores compared to the kaolinitic cambisol Latossol. The mineralogy of gibbsitic had a big impact on water retention at very negative pressures.
