Changing soil bulk density during water measurement impacts soil water flow.
Bulk density changes during water desorption measurements can affect soil hydraulic properties. Researchers studied five soils with different textures and found that bulk density varied during the tests. Using the optimal bulk density value resulted in the most accurate soil water characteristic curves. Higher bulk density values led to lower hydraulic conductivities and water diffusivities. Considering bulk density changes during measurements is crucial for understanding water flow in real soils.
