Microalgae could replace fish oil as sustainable source of essential fatty acids
Microalgae can be a great source of important fatty acids like omega-3 and omega-6, which are crucial for our health. Fish oil is commonly used for these fatty acids, but it can be contaminated with chemicals. One type of microalgae called Phaeodactylum tricornutum has a high amount of eicosapentaenoic acid, which is good for us. Using microalgae to produce these fatty acids is a promising idea for making healthy foods and animal feeds.
