New study finds gel capsules less effective than solution for drug absorption.
The researchers studied how well a drug called 8-methoxypsoralen is absorbed in dogs when given in different forms. They found that the drug was absorbed more quickly and effectively when given as a solution compared to gelatin capsules. Some dogs had more than 100% of the drug absorbed, showing variability between individuals. In another test, the solution form of the drug was absorbed faster and better than an emulsion form.
