A new boosting algorithm called AdaBoost was tested in experiments to see how well it could improve the accuracy of learning algorithms. The researchers also looked at a method called pseudo-loss to help focus on difficult concepts. They compared AdaBoost to another method called bagging on different machine-learning tasks and found AdaBoost performed better. They also tested AdaBoost with a nearest-neighbor classifier on an OCR problem and found it to be effective.
