The article discusses how traditional software engineering methods faced challenges when users changed their requirements. To address this, extreme programming (XP) was introduced. XP focuses on making small changes throughout the software development process instead of planning for the distant future. This approach helps reduce the cost of changing software and improves the overall development process.
