Spray boosts plant photosynthesis, leading to higher crop yields!
Brassinosteroids help cucumber plants grow better by increasing their ability to absorb carbon dioxide and make sugars through photosynthesis. When a plant hormone called 24‐epibrassinolide (EBR) was sprayed on cucumber plants, it made them more efficient at using light to make food. This was because EBR boosted the activity of a key enzyme involved in photosynthesis, called Rubisco. EBR also improved the plants' ability to convert light energy into chemical energy, leading to more sugar production. Overall, EBR treatment enhanced the plants' photosynthetic capacity, making them better at turning sunlight into food.
