Turning agricultural waste into biofuel: Breakthrough technology boosts efficiency by over 150%
A new method using alkali solution and photocatalysis was tested to make rice straw easier to break down into sugars. By treating the straw with this method, the amount of cellulose increased and lignin decreased, making it more suitable for enzyme breakdown. The technology was found to be more effective than using just alkali, resulting in a higher rate of enzymatic breakdown of the straw.
