Lake Pend Oreille faces zooplankton shortage threatening kokanee population.
The researchers studied the food availability for small fish and shrimp in Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho. They found that certain types of tiny animals called copepods and Daphnia were the most common food sources for these fish and shrimp. The researchers estimated that the fish and shrimp ate up a large portion of these tiny animals, which might not be enough to support the fish population in the lake.
