The researchers studied how adding docosahexanoic acid (DHA) to BioXcell extender affects the quality of frozen-thawed bull semen. They collected ejaculates from three bulls, added different amounts of DHA to the extender, and froze the samples for evaluation. Results showed that adding 3 ng mL-1 of DHA significantly improved sperm motility, morphology, viability, acrosome and membrane integrity compared to other amounts of DHA and the control group. However, lipid peroxidation increased with higher DHA levels. Overall, adding 3 ng mL-1 of DHA to the extender resulted in the best quality of frozen-thawed bull sperm.
