Renewable energy could slash greenhouse gas emissions and fuel costs
Using wind and solar energy instead of fossil fuels can reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The cost of reducing emissions is lower when using renewable electricity compared to renewable hydrogen. To make using renewable hydrogen cost-effective, fuel cell vehicles need to be much more efficient than traditional vehicles. Replacing a gas-fired power plant with wind turbines can significantly reduce emissions, but at an additional cost. This study offers insights on how to best reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
