Hemispheric asymmetries in object categorization depend on the task at hand.
The study looked at how our brains categorize objects at different levels of detail. Two experiments were done using words and pictures to test this. In the first experiment, the left side of the brain was better at recognizing basic objects, while the right side was better at recognizing detailed objects. But in the second experiment, the opposite was true. This shows that which side of the brain is better at categorizing objects depends on the task at hand.
