Theories of foreign policy are essential in understanding how countries behave in the world. Different perspectives in international relations, like political economy and Marxism, all have ideas about how a country's foreign policy is shaped. Even if some theories don't focus on the state as the main player, they still talk about how foreign policy is made. So, when we study international relations, we are also studying theories of foreign policy.
