Study reveals optimal conditions for highest species diversity in mountain reserves
The study looked at plants and diversity in Baihua Mountain Reserve near Beijing. They set up plots at different elevations and levels of human impact. They found 12 different plant communities, mostly secondary forests. The type of plants varied based on elevation and disturbance, like tourism and farming. The middle elevations and moderate disturbance had the most diverse plant species. The researchers suggest managing the area to keep this diversity.
