The Oak Ridges Moraine in southern Ontario is made up of different types of deposits from glaciers and rivers. A study looked at the layers of sediment in the area and found evidence of fast-moving floods that deposited gravel and sand in different zones. The deposits show that the fan was formed quickly by powerful floods carrying lots of sediment.
