New herbicide program boosts weed control in resistant soybean crops.
A study in Missouri looked at different herbicide programs for controlling weeds in soybean plants resistant to 2,4-D and glufosinate. Adding 2,4-D to glufosinate increased control of common waterhemp. Including 2,4-D in herbicide programs resulted in similar control of other weeds like cocklebur and foxtail. Two-pass herbicide programs were most effective, with up to 90% weed control. One-pass programs were enough for good control of some weeds. Soybean yields were similar across all herbicide treatments. In conclusion, using 2,4-D with glufosinate in herbicide programs can improve weed control in 2,4-D-resistant soybeans.
