New protein quantitation method promises rapid and accurate results for researchers.
A new method for measuring protein levels quickly and accurately using a dye called Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250 has been developed. This dye binds to proteins, causing a change in color that can be measured. The process is fast, taking only about 2 minutes, and the color remains stable for up to an hour. The method is not affected by common substances like sodium, potassium, or sugars, but can be disrupted by certain detergents. By using proper controls, interference from detergents can be minimized, making this a reliable way to quantify protein levels in samples.
