Human capital boosts agriculture growth, but services lag behind in Thailand
Total Factor Productivity (TFP) growth and human capital are important for economic growth in Thailand. The study analyzed TFP growth as a factor of technological progress and included human capital in the production function. Results showed that TFP growth positively contributed to agriculture but not significantly to services. Human capital had a positive impact on agriculture but not on industry and services. Physical capital was significant in all sectors. Industry growth could be traded off with agriculture and services. TFP growth significantly contributed to overall economic growth. The traditional TFP growth concept was found inadequate to explain growth contributions.
