Acidification Reversed in River Duddon Tributaries, Boosting Ecosystem Health.
The study looked at changes in water quality in streams in the Lake District from 1970 to 1998. They found that the pH levels in the streams increased over time, indicating less acidity. Nitrate levels went up, while non-marine sulphate levels went down. This suggests that pollution from sulphur has decreased, leading to a reversal of acidification in the area.
