Turkish forest management boosts ecosystem health and productivity in northeast Turkey.
Turkish forest management has shifted towards ecosystem-based planning, focusing on sustainable practices. A study in northeast Turkey's Saçinka Forest analyzed changes in forest structure and values over 21 years. The data showed an increase in productive forests and a decrease in degraded areas due to reduced agricultural and settlement activities. Despite common bark beetle issues in the region, the forests in Saçinka were less affected, thanks to interventions and proper forest management. This resulted in improved forest vitality and integrity.
