The article introduces a new method called slack-based context-dependent DEA to measure inefficiency in performance evaluations. This method considers non-zero slacks in data envelopment analysis, which can indicate significant inefficiencies in decision-making units. By using this approach, researchers can identify different levels of efficiency and better benchmarks for improving the performance of inefficient units.
