The researchers studied landslides caused by the 5.12 Wenchuan earthquake and identified four basic types based on how they moved. They also classified landslides into three secondary types based on their composition and level of disruption. By analyzing different landslide cases, they found that understanding these types can help prevent future earthquake-induced landslides.
