New method accurately estimates building occupancy, reducing errors and costs.
A new method called the sensor-utility-network (SUN) has been developed to estimate how many people are in a building. This method uses data from different sensors and past building usage to make accurate estimates. By combining all available information, the SUN method reduced the average error in estimating occupancy from 70% to 11% compared to traditional methods. This means the SUN method can better predict how many people are in a building, which can be useful for things like energy efficiency and safety.
