Large scale ozone depletion has been observed in the Antarctic due to human-made chemicals. The Arctic has less severe ozone depletion. A model called DIAMOND uses satellite data to track ozone loss in the stratosphere. By comparing assimilated and transported ozone data, researchers can determine the rates and locations of ozone depletion in both polar regions.
