Wheat Thrives on Sugar Mill Wastewater, Offering Sustainable Irrigation Solution
The researchers studied how using wastewater from sugar mills for irrigation affects the growth and yield of wheat. They tested different irrigation and fertilizer combinations on wheat crops at a sugar mill site. The results showed that using a mix of fresh water and wastewater produced the highest grain yield, while using only wastewater resulted in the lowest yield. Interestingly, combining mixed water irrigation with full fertilizer application gave the best results, with significantly higher grain yield compared to other combinations. This suggests that irrigating wheat with sugar mill wastewater can be a promising option for farmers.
