New index revolutionizes mapping crop residue for improved agricultural practices.
A new index called MSACRI has been developed to map and estimate crop residue cover. This index uses specific infrared channels to distinguish between soil and residue. It is more effective than visible channels, even in extreme atmospheric conditions. The MSACRI can accurately differentiate between bare soil and full cover residue, with an average difference of 0.03 for soil and 0.70 for residue.
