Heterogeneous learning agents outperform homogeneous ones in complex environments.
The researchers compared a group of different learners with a group of the same learners. They watched how two hunters chased a prey on a line and learned from their experiences. When the hunters learned at different speeds, they were different learners. They tested the groups in different environments and found that the different learners did just as well as the best same learners in most cases.
