Farmers Paying 43% More for Irrigation Water Than Needed, Hurting Small Farms
This study looked at how water is managed in an area in Spain. They focused on the Almudévar district and found some problems with how water is used for crops. They studied how much water crops need and how water is stored in the soil. The researchers saw that farmers were using more water than needed on average and that bigger farms got less water. They also noticed that water was given to the fields in big amounts with delays. In some places, farmers got less water than they should for their crops. Overall, the study aims to help improve how water is used in this district by finding these issues and suggesting ways to make things better.
