Latin American stock market reform strategies need a major overhaul.
The dissertation explores how to improve stock markets in Latin America through institutional reform. Past efforts to boost capital markets in the region didn't work well. The study suggests that different strategies may be needed for success. By looking at the experiences of other countries, existing research, and data from Latin American nations, the analysis shows that transitional strategies could be key to overcoming challenges. This work aims to help policymakers in Latin America and other emerging countries make better decisions for future reform efforts.
