Coastal road construction leads to beach erosion mitigation success in Korea.
Beach erosion in Korea has increased due to coastal development. A study at Namae Beach used field measurements to understand the erosion caused by a coastal road with a seawall. They built a jetty and reef mounds to reduce wave-induced current and erosion. The jetty construction led to the shoreline moving offshore. Monitoring will continue for reef mound construction and beach nourishment to maintain a wide beach. This project shows that coastal road construction can impact nearby beaches, so it's important to consider this before building.
