Socially prescribed perfectionism linked to increased procrastination in college students.
The study looked at how different types of perfectionism relate to procrastination in college students. They found that socially prescribed perfectionism was most strongly linked to both general procrastination and academic procrastination, especially in males. Self-oriented and other-oriented perfectionism didn't show as strong of a connection. However, the fear of failure aspect of procrastination was related to all types of perfectionism. Overall, the results suggest that procrastination can be influenced by the fear of not meeting others' high standards.
